RHEA Foundation Canada Heads to Tanzania to Launch Water Access Project

This August, RHEA Foundation Canada will take an important step forward in its mission to improve access to education, clean water, and sustainable infrastructure in underserved communities. On August 18, 2026, our team is scheduled to travel to Mto Wa Mbu, Tanzania, to begin drilling for a community water tower project on land owned by the foundation.

Mto Wa Mbu is a growing community that faces significant infrastructure challenges, including limited access to reliable clean water. For many families, obtaining safe water requires considerable time and effort, impacting health, education, and economic opportunities. This project represents the first phase of a larger community development initiative that will support both local residents and nearby schools.

The planned water system is designed to provide a sustainable source of clean water for the community while laying the foundation for future development on the site. Long term plans include solar power, two classrooms capable of serving approximately 100 students, office and storage space, a community kitchen to provide nutritious meals for students, and volunteer accommodations. Together, these projects will help create lasting opportunities for education, health, and community growth.

The total estimated cost of the development is approximately $80,000 CAD. While the water drilling project marks a major milestone, there is still significant work ahead. Every contribution brings us one step closer to providing safe water, expanding educational opportunities, and creating sustainable change for the people of Mto Wa Mbu.
